11A – Idea Napkin No. 1

Idea Napkin
1) My name is Christian Collazo. I am a pre-law political science student at UF with aspirations of being a federal prosecutor and eventually a judge. I am a quick learner and have some job experience working with various judges and law firms. I would see this business becoming my passion as well as my primary income source.

2) I am offering climate change-resistant housing. It would solve a need by making housing more environmentally friendly as well as resistant to rising temperatures and rising ocean levels.

3) I am offering my product to environmentally conscious home builders. Most likely couples in their 30's. My customers would have in common that they are looking to build homes that are future-proofed.

4) Younger generations tend to be more environmentally conscious as well as more aware of the effects of climate change. They will buy my product as it will solve some of the worries they might have over climate change.

5) My resolve and problem solving set me apart from everyone else.

  1. It's so cool to hear about an environmental engineering idea from a pre-law poli-sci student! And I love your ambition.

It's also good how succinct you were with this napkin, but I fail to understand what the venture will actually be. Like, I gather that it will be a product for retrofitting homes to be more environmentally friendly and resilient, but right now I seem to have a general solution to a vague sense of a problem, as opposed to a specific need/want and a way to turn that into an opportunity. I don't even know if this product will be only for homes that are being built, or if it can be applied to already built homes.

Furthermore, I think specifying some competencies in Part 5 that are more specific to your venture in question would help me understand and visualize your idea.

  2. I think this is a wonderful idea Christian!

I really want to see this come true because, I feel like there is definitely a market for it right now, and that market can only grow as time goes on. I think it is important that you get to the market first, this can give you a foothold that I feel like will be important in the long run.
