Opportunity
The opportunity I have identified is that young eco-conscious first time home buyers are looking for homes that are equipped with eco-friendly features. These young home buyers need homes that are energy efficient and capable of producing some type of renewable energy as well as resistant to any climate change occurring. The forces which are responsible for this development are a social movement toward eco-awareness and the effect that climate change is having on the globe. This market is made up of young homebuyers most likely looking to move out of urban areas towards suburban areas. Customers are satisfying this need through several different companies such as individual solar panel companies. My company would seek to include all their options in one package and make the journey to owning an eco-friendly home a much easier one. This opportunity is big and will become increasingly ludicrous as more and more individuals realize the severity and impact of climate change. This window of opportunity will be open for the foreseeable future unless the market becomes monopolized.
Innovation
My product is quite innovative as we would be one of the first companies providing an all in one solution to home eco-friendliness. While companies before would offer separate elements of the eco-friendly package my company offers all of it together in a convenient package and then will also build your home and install it all. The benefit of this added convenience will allow us to charge a reasonable profit on each element of the package.

My innovation would allow individuals to better fit their reality to their eco-friendly ideals. Individuals who have always wanted to be eco-friendly but are hands-off when it comes to tech and home construction can trust my company to build them a home that makes them happy and is eco-friendly. I think customers would switch to this product as its a relatively new idea and they would not be able to find many alternatives. The competitors are companies who sell direct elements of our packages to consumers. Their weaknesses are that they are not specially equipped for home building and are not as convenient as the service my company would provide. Customer support and customer experience play a large role in the attractiveness of my product as well as a reasonable price point for labor and materials. My business would look similar to many home construction companies but with a focus on eco-friendliness. 25 employees made up of salesmen, architects, engineers and construction workers.
The Three Minor Elements
I believe the social movement behind eco-friendliness to be the unfair advantage my company has.
The next step would be to build a supply chain and find investors.
I would want to be building eco-friendly homes within the next five years if I was to pursue this idea.

ReplyDeleteI think that many people are looking to sell an eco friendly home, however I really enjoy the fact that you are stressing the idea of the “reality”. I believe you do a great job making this the focal point of your concept, and I believe others will flock to this, as I already have. I also think keeping the staff around 25 people is a good idea, so you can make business more personal.
